Flying…or falling with style?

Have you ever dreamed of taking control of an aeroplane?

Like most Air Cadets in the North East, your flying career will probably begin at RAF Leeming in North Yorkshire, where No. 11 Air Experience Flight (AEF) is based. On your first trip, you’ll be introduced to the controls of the hardy Grob Tutor T1 (pictured behind) and shown how each article controls the aircraft and then, if you feel ready, the pilot will let you take control!

If you’re looking for something a bit more challenging, we also offer gliding opportunities with 645 Volunteer Gliding Squadron where you will be shown the winch-launched Viking glider. Piloting a glider offers a much more “hands on” experience for our cadets!

As you become more experienced you will have the opportunity to develop your learning, taking on aerobatics with 11 AEF and, as you progress, gain qualifications and scholarships in the aviation field!
