Potential Cadets

We get to do a huge variety of activities such as flying, gliding, target shooting, adventure training, sports, camps, drill, academic studies and lots of other things. There's never a dull moment!

You can join from the age of 12, however you must also be in Year 8 at school, and you'll usually leave when you're 20. The latest age you can be to join is 17.

We parade on a Tuesday and Thursday evening from 18:45 to 21:30. We also run weekend activities if you're really keen to get stuck in!

There are lots of opportunities to do fun activities as well as the more serious side of things, but the focus is always on enjoying yourself while improving your skills.

Our parade nights only last around two and a half hours, so this gives you plenty of time to dedicate to your other commitments. While you should aspire to attend as often as possible, we know and understand this isn't always possible.

It costs about £2 a night to be an Air Cadet; which is great value for money considering what you can get out of it!

The uniform is provided to you free of charge but you have to look after it. You may need to buy your own shoes though; good pairs can be found online or at Army surplus stores for around £30.

Absolutely! Everyone is welcome, provided your abilities enable you to take part in our everyday activities and won't cause a risk to your safety.
