Flight lieutenant Karl Siberry RAFAC

Squadron Roles: Officer Commanding (AKA The Boss), Fieldcraft Officer, Shooting Officer, Air Rifle Range RCO

Length of time in the Corps: 34 years

Previous Squadrons: 1507 (Chester-le-Street) Squadron

"I was introduced to the Air Training Corps (ATC) back in 1989 when I joined 1507 (Chester-Le-Street) Squadron.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a cadet and I progressed through the classifications achieving staff cadet and reaching the rank of Cadet Warrant Officer. Further to this, I was lucky to visit a number of RAF stations across the United Kingdom and I was also selected represent Durham & Northumberland Wing at the International Air Cadet Exchange on a visit to the Netherlands. It was a fantastic experience!

"The ATC inspired me to join the RAF Police in 1996 and I was stationed at RAF Lossiemouth, a station I had visited on a summer camp as a cadet! My RAF career lasted 3 years, but I was keen to put my interests to use and re-joined the RAFAC in September 2019, after one of my sons joined 2214 (Usworth) Squadron. I joined as a civilian instructor before obtaining my commission in 2021 and eventually coming into my current post as Officer Commanding at 2214."
