“I first joined the Air Training Corps in 2013 when a school friend introduced me to 111 (Sunderland) Squadron ATC.

“I was a cadet for nearly 6 years, in that time attaining the rank of Cadet Flight Sergeant and picking up all three levels of the Duke of Edinburgh Award, three BTECs and two Duke of Westminster Award nominations along the way, among several other achievements.

“After taking a small career break, I returned to the Corps, joining 2214 (Usworth) Squadron in August 2023. In the short time since coming back to the Corps, I have adopted a number of roles on the unit; most of the time I am ensuring that everything is running in the background, so every parade night is the best it can be, but when I’m not at my desk, you’ll find me on the drill square or leading a band session.”
